A couple of years ago the Serial podcast became oh so popular, telling the story of a guy who has been imprisoned over the past 17 years.
I was a little bit late to the party but I finally listened and it sparked a love of podcasts, mainly true crime but some others too. I now have a list of go-to podcasts that I listen to on a near daily basis whilst working.
One of the newer podcasts full coverage is a podcast that has nothing to do with true crime, but the other love in my life….makeup!
And it was created by my favourite author Lindsey Kelk who will most likely pop up on a couple of other Top 5’s! and makeup artist Harriet from Harry makes it up.
Talking all about their love for makeup do’s and don’ts with a little digression this is lovely to just listen away to anywhere. And if like me you work in a male orientated office it’s great to listen to and feel included.
This podcast actually inspired me to write a recent post, The Face of Sam.
Not the nitty gritty true crime podcast I would normally listen to but 2 comedian friends who both love true crime and share their own and listeners hometown murders. A little bit less grizzly than most true crime podcasts out there.
Also, the murderino community is amazing and between sharing hometown murders and mobile wallpapers there are now a whole host of people from the MFM Facebook Group selling some amazing merch including this Fuck Politeness bracelet!
The recent podcast I have started listening to, I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to find it!
Hilarious, a laugh a minute and sometimes downright cringy, this is genius!
As you may have guessed the dad of this podcast presenter wrote a porno/erotic novel which is probably one of the least sexy books I can imagine reading. The 3 presenters Jamie, James and Radio 1’s Alice Levine read a chapter of the current book each week, dissecting everything from grammer, to title name to the general storyline. Every episode has me in absolute stitches, cue some weird looks from my coworkers who by now really should be used to my podcast obsessions.
Yay for Mondays which are now known as #PornoDay!
The Black Tapes follows a reporter who is investigating Richard Straus the main subject of the podcast, packed full or the supernatural, ghosts and demons this is completely non-fictional but from the way it is told will suck you in and have you believing every word. I found myself getting super creeped out sitting in broad daylight at my desk…not one to listen to before bed!
The only downside to this one is no new episodes have been published since August 2016, but it will be back in August for the last 6 episodes so you have time to catch up now!
Strictly true crime covering some awful cases from around the world, narrated by an anonymous host from Austrailia. This podcast has so much work put into it, you can tell that the crimes are thoroughly researched and the victims/survivors are treated with complete respect and dignity.
The storytelling aspect is amazing, the host has a way of describing the scene and telling the story which will make you believe you were there during any police investigations.
Currently on hiatus but returning in July.
This list could go on and on with a number of podcasts I listen to but here are some other podcasts that I listen to:
Sword and Scale
